Censoring Wikipedia

A real interesting article. I, for one, would never use Wikipedia in a paper, but I would definitely consult it for an initial summary of whatever I'm interested in.

i feel like a freshmen again

It's been more than a year that I've stayed up trying to write a paper. And I just remembered something. You know how you check your AIM buddy list occasionally as the hours turn to 3am, 4am, 5am, and the number of buddies dwindle significantly to only a few ppl who are either in another time zone or have their away msgs up? Yea I hate when it gets to that point. That's when the despair takes over.

HR is an Intriguing Field

Every job I've had for the past 8 years has required me to think, concentrate, or do something physically tiring. Working in a labratory, tutoring, playing in a quartet, MLK Papers Project, and even working at Express and our dining hall all required me to be productive. Thus, I've always been envious of the people at Stanford who sit at the gym and do homework while watching the card scanner or Jenny's job, where she's an Oral Communications Tutor from 9-11PM on Monday nights (where she's gotten about 5 people total after a few months of that time slot).

But, I finally have a job where I can get paid to sit on my ass, do my homework, and surf the internet. I'm an "assistant" for the Manzanita office, picking up hours here and there when the Resident Student Affairs Specialist, Michael G. is out of the office. Today was my first day and four people came in - 3 picked up packages that had been delivered to the office and a fourth I redirected to Monica M. next door because he wanted lofting materials. I did the Stanford Daily's crossword and did some reading for my thesis. As long as I can keep busy during this job, it should be a breeze.

Dammit

Letting Jenny post on my blog was a bad, bad, idea.

Down with dim sum at 1am!!!

Reid is going to order dim sum tonight.
I will turn away if he farts.
And then the commotions will start.

I need to...

...control my spending. This weekend, I purchased an iPod shuffle. I did need one, since my iPod had broken and buying a new battery for it would have been a little less than buying a new shuffle. But, coming up is dinner at Il Fornaio for Valentine's Day and Viennese Ball on Friday. I guess I'll have to win back all my money at Las Vegas this Spring Break.

Obsessions

A few musings from today:

- I am obsessed with the Dim Sum from Lag Late Nite. It's just deep fried dumplings that aren't incredibly good, but for some reason, they're addictive and the best thing on the menu for a late snack. I just ate 12 and I'll wake up in the morning regretting it.

- It's nice to see old friends. I haven't seen much of Anna all of last quarter, so I stopped by in Roble tonight. Catching up with her was nice, especially hearing about where she's hoping to go to graduate school, plans for the future, and what not.

- My thoughts on Asian American identity, politics, and race have definitely progressed throughout the past few years. As a Senior, I can really reflect, especially during the conversation we had today in my Asian American stereotypes class, about how my views have become very intellectualized, but also more clearly articulated and thought out. And more importantly, the questions we discuss are things I find myself passionate about.

- Children of Men is a really good movie. As in, the cinematography is excellent and it's an emotional rollercoaster. I definitely recommend watching it.

- The men's basketball Pac-10 conference is so deep - UCLA, Washington State, Stanford, USC, Oregon, and Arizona. Wow. Stanford has a tough road trip this week, taking on Washington State and Washington. If they can pull it off, I really think we'll seal the deal for an NCAA appearance.

- Somethingawful continues to impress me:
